Mission:
Mission 114: Be All My Sins Remember'd
Location: Various Locations - USS Hermes
Timeline: 1830Hrs - October 27th, 2393
Commodore Korelii MacRae blinked as she could see again, her arms and legs would need strength-toning and she would need to exercise in the gym at least three times a week but she used to work out five times a week and now that she was able, she would be able to return to the life she had and what's more, she felt liberated. She was no longer living under a shroud of doom and she had no idea of what to think or feel on the subject.
"How are you feeling Korelii?" Hague inquired of her. She turned her head as she looked at him. "I feel fine..." the Halanan female said quietly. "That's just it though... I never expected to feel like this... I can get off this bed and run out the door..." she commented. "How are my children doing?"
"While you were out... Your husband brought them by and I am thrilled to be able to tell you... They are all cured of the issues as well." Hague gently smiled. "I'm glad I was wrong, this was not a wasting disease... and the guys on Vanguard came through for us and for you." Hague paused. "I'll admit. I had no idea of what it was that was plaguing you..."
"I wasn't sure myself but I had ideas... The augmentation procedure was designed to enhance my psionic abilities, as well as a few physical things... I am stronger and faster than the Halanan baseline, which was why Torilla's cure was incompatible with me... I had a feeling that was why..." she let out a long sigh. "I hoped it wasn't the case... I didn't even know about Torilla until a couple of years ago... My own full sibling and I had no idea she existed... Our parents endured hell and the government of Halana permitted it... They let our parents die horribly due to telepathic Huntingtons... "
"I'm sorry Korelii..." Hague answered quietly.
"So am I..." Korelii paused. "I do not mean to burden you with my issues..." she added a moment later.
"Hey." Hague gently chided her with a smile. "Your issues are my issues... How many times must I remind you...?" he asked of her.
"At least once more, for the tradition..." Korelii responded with a gentle smile on her lips. "But still... I feel great..." she added. "I am myself... Once again... I feel alive... I feel every mind on this ship... They have not yet been told... I will tend to that after you see fit to release me from your sickbay Doctor..."
Hague smiled. "Other than daily checkups... Because you have been through one heck of an ordeal... I see no issues with you being released from Hague's House of Pain..." he answered, with a wide smile. "Frankly skipper, it's with the greatest pleasure that I say, you're free to go home... I will however prescribe relaxation, this means no rough sex with your husband... If you must and I know you will... Be gentle, is all I can ask."
Korelii regarded Hague with an amused look in her eyes. "I will do what I can... However, I expect I will be back here with issues from Daniel wanting to celebrate." she smiled.
"Very well, I will make sure we're ready for it." Hague knew he could not stop her, so he didn't try. "Alright, go on home, take off the uniform, re-bond with your babies, and fuck your husband senseless..."
Korelii smiled as she slowly slid off of the bed, her feet and legs did not buckle under her own weight and she took a moment to look around. "its something to be said that one can marvel at being able to stand upright by oneself."
"Tell me about it," Hague answered with a nod of his head, clearly in agreement with her.
MacRae turned and slowly, she made her way out of sickbay while she headed home. She had no idea of what to say to her children or to her husband, all of whom were expecting her to be either dead or dying, thanks to her maladies which now, had been resolved thanks to a group of medical personnel from Starbase Vanguard. The fact that they spent all this time and effort just for her alone, was humbling and enough to reduce Korelii to tears.
MacRae still had no idea when the doors to her home opened before her and she was spotted by at least three of her children. Kameron was sitting at the kitchen table as he finished his homework. "Mom!" he addressed Korelii. "What the hell?" he added quickly.
Within moments, his five siblings were all gathered around their mother. "I'm okay," Korelii explained. "I feel... great..."
Daniel MacRae emerged from the bedroom, wearing civilian clothing, he almost skidded to a halt upon seeing his wife, alive and well. "Korelii..."
Kameron regarded his mother with a curious look. "What happened, mom?..."
