| General Overview | Theris Dvald is the quiet type, she doesn't say much to people she doesn't know. Mostly because of shyness. However once she gets to know the ship she is on, she tends to bloom like a flower and has a world weary joke when needed. She is generally easy to get along with providing someone isn't clowning around or having a joke at her expense. Theris also is highly skilled in survivalist strategies and skills like foraging, tracking and general hunting, she's also adept at the messier side of camp life such as skinning and gutting corpses of her prey. |

| Personal History | Theris Dvald was born in 2349, second of four children on the colony world of Bounty. This was a world that truly lived up to its name and it attracted attention from far and wide for its bountiful supplies of foodstuffs which it sent to other Federation colonies but it was an attack from the Orion syndicate which was met with force thanks to the large number of retired Starfleet officers who had settled on this lush paradise of a world. Her parents settled down to live here for several years with their four children. For a time they lived in peace as their father worked here while their mother was off in Starfleet. The Orion's decided to attack and seize the entire colony plus all of its foodstuffs and so their attack began in the early hours of June 22nd, 2359 but what the Orion's didn't count on was the ferocious defense the colonists would give. Even after two hundred of them were finally taken after the Orion's were driven off. Theris Dvald was only ten years old when she along with most of the colony was abducted, she found the experience truly terrifying and to make matters worse. She had already started to mature from a gawky child into a mature young woman and the Orion's noticed this. One of the Orion guardsmen was plotting to make a move on the comply young Bolian but thankfully. the Orion's never got the chance to make their move as several of the colonists made their moves first and saved everyone else. Theris Dvald found herself helping out with healing the wounded, but even this was a horrifying experience for the ten-year-old girl but rather than run and hide. Theris chose to stand her ground and help. This event was also an eye-opening event for Theris as she realized that not everyone wanted peace so she decided to join Starfleet when she came of age in 2365 when she finished her schooling and went to various universities. Theris Dvald would also cram more medical research into her schooling as her attitude began to turn darker over time because of the experience on Bounty. Also, she swore she would never be defenseless ever again for any reason whatsoever. in early 2367. Theris applied for, was granted, and went off to Starfleet, she had noticed the rise in militancy in and around the Federation and she went to the academy around stardate 49011.3. She would later see it as prophetic in that one couldn't rely upon others to protect her or even to help her. She came to firmly believe that she had to do it alone. Her time at the academy was instructive and she learned a great deal however she had issues socializing with others and at times was downright unpleasant to be around. Most of it was because she believed that she was preparing for a war that was coming. Theris soon got her wish when she was posted to the USS Wind of Fury, an older Excelsior-class vessel that was close to sixty years of age but she was sent into the fray along with a dozen other Federation ships with the Klingons launched their invasion of the Archanis region. The battle for Archanis IV went poorly for the first Federation ships that responded to the invasion, the Winds of Fury feared little better than most as she was only boarded by some forty Klingon marines, the Starfleet crew met then in battle and Theris was forced to take another life, this only further complicated matters for the young Bolian woman. In the end, she was able to help drive off the Klingons but what was worse was that she came to enjoy the thrill of battle and the endless hatred that came along with it. The next six months were more and more of the same, battles to defend Federation space and then the Dominion came into the picture, and once more she and the Winds of Fury went into the fight when the Borg attacked Earth, helping to destroy the Borg cube not far from Earth. However, they had been boarded by a handful of Borg drones and her crew was forced to kill a dozen of their own comrades who had been assimilated. The Dominion War started later that year and off Theris went to fight, alongside her siblings who all were serving in Starfleet across various ships and bases. As death and chaos echoed across the Federation for the next two years. Theris actually survived all of her brushes with death whereas many others did not. When she got word that the war was over, she rejoiced along with millions of others who had survived and then she realized she could get on with the business of living her life rather than preparing for war but it would take her many years to really calm down from her days at war. The very first thing she did was request reassignment from the USS Winds of Fury which was now in desperate need of a refit when she put in at the Copernicus shipyards on Luna, her entire crew was reassigned, including her skipper. Her next assignment was exactly what the doctor ordered for this angry Bolian woman as her assignment was soothing, the crew was more at peace and the missions were more pleasant affairs like exploration missions rather then convoy duty assignments or relief missions to former enemies. She remained here for two years before she went off to the newly commissioned USS Song of the Mountain. She was a new ship of the line, designed and built with the lessons in mind from the Dominion War. Theris found her time here to be highly productive and enjoyable as she began to lighten up and relax a great deal. In 2380. Theris was posted over to the USS Courageous under the command of Captain and later Commodore Jake Yamaguchi. Jake was friendly to his crew and made an effort to get to know them all by name if not by face and Theris appreciated this approach to command which was sadly lacking on her last two postings. It wasn't that her skippers didn't care but it was more they were the type who led first and didn't like to socialize with their crews. Theris remained aboard the USS Courageous for eight years and the time assigned here did wonders for her, she finished calming down from the Dominion War and she was able to open up to others but as with everything else in life. Theris was reassigned to the USS Song of the East when the USS Courageous went in for her twenty-year refitting. Her time aboard the USS Song of the East was more of the same. Theris was able to work with happy people who seemed to be a pleasure to be around not like her earlier assignments but she soon found herself to be stagnating and not going anywhere in her career so she put in for reassignment. Theris heard the posting of Chief Medical Officer on the USS Vindictive was open so she stuck her name in for it, her request was denied so she went instead to the posting of Chief of General Medicine and Clinic on Starbase Watchman, the hours were better with more people so she went to this assignment with an eager hand and heart. Just weeks after she got here she met someone named Lieutenant Drass Veldama from Operations and now she's dating him, she's believed to be very happy with this assignment and is in no rush to leave. Unfortunately, all good things must end and this assignment was no exception as Commander Dvald-Veldama found herself going over to the USS Valhalla. In response. Drass proposed to her, she accepted and they got married, now she wears his last name with her own. The two would remain here on the Valhalla for the better part of sixteen months and after having two children, she got a chance to go to the Infinity as their chief medical officer, she accepted and off she went, her husband and children in tow. |
