Personality & Traits

General Overview Sebastian has a conflicting personality, sometimes extremely serious and harsh, other times lay back and content. He contributes these strange personality flaws in having lived so many years’ onboard starships. He has an average professional rating when it comes to his ability to get the best out of his department, although his leadership is inspiring, bolstering the morale of his department by leading from the front.

His personality is fairly impetuous, he doesn’t need to be told something to do it, although this sometimes gets him in trouble, especially with Starfleet and its strict mission guidelines. Sebastian has always tried to be a good person, he keeps his word, doesn’t harm the innocent, never attacks an unarmed opponent, etc. Of course sometimes he has to lie, cheat, and steal as part of his occupation, but this he only does because he believes in the end, he is doing good rather then evil. His personality is the story of a man who reaches the top constantly only to hit bottom the day afterwards.

He has a great love for the Malarins, especially as he was the first Starfleet officer to make contact with them. This love translates into a desire to protect them and was one of the principal drives behind him going on the Cheron Mission to gain a peace treaty with the Golida.

The Sorel Pledge
Ensign Jean Sorel was a promising young officer in the tactical department onboard the Challenger, he was captured during the boarding of the ship along with one hundred and 151 crewmembers. Sebastian exchanged many letters with Sorel’s parents and has pledged to do everything he can to bring their son home. He achieved this in 2374 and now incidentally serves onboard the USS Kersaint with Sorel’s older brother; Forion Sorel.

Personal History
Early Years, 2354 - 2366
Sebastian was born on August the 5th, 2354 on board the USS Pringles, an old Constitution class refit. The USS Pringles had been one of the reserve Starfleet starships used for transport and cadet training cruises along the Cardassian border, his mother served as the commanding officer and his father the chief engineer. Growing up onboard a hundred year old starship was difficult at the best of times.

From an early age he had a high interaction with the Cardassians along the border and he was lucky enough to learn much of the Cardassian culture and customs, including the basic elements of the language, which he would master later on in his life.

In 2358, his father was assigned to the USS Pegasus under Captain Pressman. He was reported missing soon afterwards, many years later it would be discovered that Captain Pressman had been involved in an illegal cloaking experiment, which caused the death of almost the entire crew, including Nicholas Lutz. Sebastian and his younger brother Philip were left fatherless at the age of four and two respectively.

By 2366 the USS Pringles was decommissioned and Captain Marie Davoust was offered a
posting at the Federation Embassy on Qu’noS, the Klingon homeworld. Sebastian and his
younger brother, Philip, both followed their mother.

Living with the Klingons, 2366 - 2370
Sebastian initially had difficultly adjusting to Qu’noS and Klingons at first. His mother wanted him to have a complete experience of the Klingon homeworld like he had; had along the Cardassian boarder territories, he and his brother were educated with Junkar, the son of General Ka’pok, by of the House of Gonkor. They were taught by the House of Gonkor’s Dahar Master, the renown Korthos the Elder, but Sebastian still had a difficult time fitting in, in Klingon society.

The outbreak of the Klingon Civil War in 2367 didn't help matters either for the young human. While starships fought in the space above Qu’noS, battles and skirmishes broke out on the planet. Sebastian sided with his friends from the House of Gonkor a firm ally of the Chancellor Gowron’s cause. Sneaking out of the Federation Compound at night, there at the age of only thirteen he was involved in skirmishes between rival houses.

Pre-Starfleet Academy 2370-2371
Not long after the Klingon Civil War, the family moved to Earth in 2370, where his mother began lecturing at Starfleet Academy. Sebastian turned his pursuits to football and gaining admission into Starfleet Academy. He’d always been a talented football player, and he found himself playing in one of the Bayern Munich youth squads. His most noticeable game being the 4-3 victory against FC Gorn United, in which he scored a winning goal.

But football always came second to his dreams of entering Starfleet and following the old family tradition. The Academy entrance process was difficult but he did well in them due to his varied education. The Starfleet Academy Preparatory Program soon followed and he attended the six week course during the summer, preparing himself for the entrance exam. When the exam finally came along he passed it with a decent rating and was accepted into Starfleet Academy.

Starfleet Academy 2371-2373
Over the next two years at Starfleet Academy, Sebastian was highly trained as a tactical officer in combat and espionage. He did not attend the standard four year course as he opted to specialize as a tactical/helm officer at the cost of the more general education Starfleet Academy provides and cadet shipboard cruises.

He took Intelligence and Interrogation as his core subjects in tactical operations, as well as a variety of other courses such as land navigation, sniper tactics, tracking and wilderness survival. There was also space navigation, starship scanners, basic electronics and starship weapons systems for the more starship orientated side of things. Then came the helm training, he took as astrophysics, and was trained on various shuttlecraft and later on the Peregrine class fighters.

During this period he became increasingly estranged from his younger brother Philip, who would eventually return to the Klingon Empire to serve under the House of Gonkor. Later in 2373 he met Lucy Kliest, an eighteen year old first year cadet, a relationship quickly developed amidst the opening months of the Dominion War.

The Dominion War and the USS Ranger, 2373-2378
His course was cut early by a year in 2373 when he was commissioned into early service during the Dominion War. Sebastian was posted to the USS Ranger and participated in Operation Return and the subsequent capture of Deep Space Nine.

In the following battle for Deep Space Nine he performed excellently, diffusing a torpedo which breached the hull but failed to explode. The Dominion War continued, and Sebastian served aboard the USS Ranger with Lucy. Sebastian saw ground combat when he was sent to the Jena front on the planet of Norie, in 2374. That same year his daughter Claire was born.

He fought at the Battle of the Chin'toka System, and then went on to fight in the Penthara System, Igo System, and the Badlands. The USS Ranger along with Sebastian missed out on the finale battle for Cardassia Prime in 2375 when their taskforce intercepted and destroyed a Cardassian Convoy. In the ensuring battle which he refers to as the “Convoy Massacre”, Lucy was killed after her console exploded. With the end of the Dominion War, came a great period of sadness for Sebastian, who was now a single father.

While the war was over, the first comprehensive casualty lists started to come out, he discovered that many friends and family beyond count had died, including the Cardassians from the boarder territories, and the Klingon's from the House of Kapok who he had fought
with during the Klingon Civil War. Especially the death of Lucy had affected him. He couldn’t handle being a young single father, leaving Lucy’s parents to raise their daughter Claire.

In late 2377 the USS Ranger hunted down Kotim’para, a Jem’Hadar Honoured Elder who had been responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians during the Dominion War. Ensign Davoust and an away team eventually brought him to justice after a long drawn out melee between the young Ensign and the Jem’Hadar warrior. He continued to serve aboard the USS Ranger until being transferred to the USS Miranda in 2378

First Tour on the USS Miranda, 2378-2380
After a few months aboard Miranda, in very late 2378, Ensign Davoust transferred from Tactical to the Flight Control Department. Some short months later, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, Junior Grade. During the Toral Incident where the USS Miranda was captured by Klingons under the rebel Captain Toral, he used his past Klingon experience to assist in recapturing the ship. For his actions in recapturing the ship he was awarded the Bravery Medallion, as well as a Flight Control Commendation.

Over the next two years on USS Miranda, he made his way up to full Lieutenant and Chief Flight Control Officer. He also used this time to reconnect with his daughter Claire and estranged brother, Philip. Several events occurred within this time period, combat with the Reman rebels, a peacekeeping mission to Xanthe, and more combat with the Breen; although Sebastian participated little in these events being relegated to beta shift flight control duties.

Starfleet Academy, 2380-2382
He returned to Earth in 2380, where he followed in his mother’s footsteps, taking up a job at Starfleet Academy teaching Klingon culture and serving as a analyst at Starfleet Command on Klingon affairs. His other motivation to return to Earth was to spend time with daughter. After two years on Earth, Lieutenant Sebastian Davoust returned to the USS Miranda.

Second Tour on the USS Miranda, 2382-2382
During a peacekeeping operation on Nassari in early 2382 he was wounded when a fellow Starfleet Officer shot him in the leg for intervening in an illegal execution of six Federation citizens. For this action he was awarded his first Starfleet Wound Decoration, even though he had been wounded several times prior to this incident. Soon after to get away from his department following the incident he transferred to the Starfleet Fighter Corps.

He was initially assigned to Aurora Squadron as the leader of Third Flight, but was soon transferred to Rogue Squadron, although some would say demoted several months later to Rogue Squadron, to serve as a section leader aka Rogue Eleven.

Lieutenant Sebastian Davoust was reported to have died in 2382, in a sortie over Starfighter Command Headquarters on Titan, during the events of Federation Day, 2382. Davoust was one of many to give their lives to prevent the rogue organization known as Section 31 from taking over the government of the Federation.

Fortunately for Sebastian Davoust, he hadn’t actually been killed. He had faked his death by cutting the engines of his starfighter and releasing his flares to intercept with the incoming mini-photon torpedoes, generating the explosion needed to fool all those involved into believing he’d been hit. As his starfighter plummeted towards the ground, he beamed off to a safe location.

Why did Sebastian fake his own death? Well that’s a secret…

Time Out, 2382-2383
So after faking his death, Sebastian made his way to the Klingon Empire to reunite with his former childhood friend, Lieutenant Junkar, Son of Ka’pok, Lord of Tapar. There he sat around for sometime, practiced his swordsmanship and learned how to meditate, much to his daughter’s amusement. For reasons unknown Starfleet did not charge him after it became official he was alive (of course this has to do with his secret) and he returned to the Federation several months later in 2383.

The USS Challenger, 2383-2383
In 2383, he was returned his Lieutenant’s commission, although stripped of all medals he had received due to his apparent death, he was back in Starfleet and onboard the USS Challenger. His time on Challenger was mostly uneventful until the ships final mission.

Sebastian and Lieutenant Daniel McKnight were sent on a reconnaissance mission behind Golida lines to discover the origin of a distress call in the Malarin System. McKnight was captured, but Sebastian managed to evade and join the Malarin refugee fleet. He became the first Starfleet officer to make contact with the Malarins, while Tactical Officer Marilla was the first Malarin to make contact with the Federation.

During the subsequent battle between the Challenger and the Malarin refugee fleet against the Golida he served in as the Challenger’s liaison officer onboard the Malarin flagship under Commander Promethia. The Challenger was heavily damaged in that action many Challenger crewmembers were taken prisoner.

Sebastian was promoted to Lieutenant Commander soon afterwards. He was also awarded the Starfleet Medal of Valor for devotion to his duty and the act of valor while defending the Malarin refugees and credited with having achieved first contact with the Malarins.

Chibi Chibi, 2383-2384
The Malarins were settled in the Andarvad System within Federation space. Andarvad Six was renamed Chibi Chibi by Chris Coxen and became their new home. Sebastian decided he would help settle Chibi Chibi and continue to work with the Malarins. He took on the position of Chief Tactical Analyst in the construction of the Chibi Chibi Defence Perimeter; which included the construction of orbital defence platforms, communications stations and relay stations and colony shielding.

Sebastian not only worked as a Chief Tactical Analyst, but he built himself a home on Chibi Chibi, brought over his brother Philip and some former crewmates to help work the land surrounding it and assist the Malarins, and of course settled his daughter on the planet.

The Cheron Mission, Early 2384
When he was informed Captain Blythe had taken command of the USS Cheron and was going to head into Golida space to secure the return of the crew taken from the Challenger, he volunteered his services in the hope that he would not only bring back Ensign Jean Sorel from captivity but also help rescue Daniel McKnight and maybe contribute to the downfall of the Golida a continuous threat to the Malarins. The mission under Captain Blythe was a success, they rescued the 152 prisoners and the Golida were brought to the peace table.

The USS San Francisco - Galaxy Class - 2384 to 2387
Decorated for his work on the Cheron under Blythe he was assigned to the USS San Francisco as its Chief Tactical Officer and Second Officer. He was onboard the San Francisco in 2384 when she was boarded on her shakedown cruise by the Titan Order. Sebastian personally led the defense of deck two in which his lover Crewmen 1st Class Darla Vera Lott was killed.

The next two years on the San Francisco, Sebastian kept a low profile, serving as an invisible second officer, only being seen when he was needed. He simply had no desire to gain personal glory during this time. In 2386 he was promoted to Commander and took the role of the newly formed fighter squadron on the vessel. Named Skull after the legendary squadron attached to the Yamato.

Captain Daniel McKnight was concerned about him sop rather then use brute force, knowing that force would never work. McKnight applied a great degree of subtly to the matter in convincing his officer that other people still had need of him. Slowly but surely it took awhile but McKnight was able to bring Davoust out of his shell but it was almost derailed when Nechayev stripped McKnight of his command for not following illegal orders.

This awakened an intense hatred of Starfleet in the eyes of Davoust as he decided to stick in for reassignment rather than remain here where his friend had been disgraced. His request was approved and he went off to Starbase 12 to serve as their Executive Officer, here he remains to this day. Close to hearth and kin as the Andarvad System was less then a days travel at warp six, this suited Davoust as the family called that world home and so did he.

Captain Sebastian Davoust was requested to transfer from Starbase 12 to Starbase 105 as the bases new Executive officer, he accepted.
